Dalesbred Success at the Great Yorkshire Show 2025

The Great Yorkshire Show is always a highlight in the farming calendar, and this year’s Dalesbred classes were no exception. The sun shone over Harrogate as breeders from across the North gathered to showcase the very best of our native sheep.

We are delighted to share that Heather Chalis took top honours in the Dalesbred section, impressing the judges with stock that truly reflected the strength, character, and quality of the breed. Heather’s dedication and hard work were evident in the show ring, and her win is a fantastic achievement not only for her flock but for the Dalesbred Society as a whole.

The competition was strong, with breeders bringing forward sheep of outstanding type and condition. It was wonderful to see such a high standard across the classes, demonstrating the care and commitment of everyone involved in preserving and promoting the Dalesbred.

Beyond the competition, the Great Yorkshire Show provided an important opportunity to connect with fellow farmers, share knowledge, and raise the profile of our breed to the thousands of visitors who came through the gates. The Dalesbred stand welcomed many new faces, with great interest shown in the history and heritage of these hardy sheep.

Congratulations once again to Heather on her well-deserved success, and thank you to all our members who took part and supported the Dalesbred classes this year. The future of the breed looks bright, and the Great Yorkshire Show continues to be a perfect stage to celebrate everything the Dalesbred stands for.
